I greet all of you in the name of the Lord. I warmly welcome you to the ZICOFE website.
I was born to the late Eria Mulalira, a coffee farmer and trader in a coffee-growing area of Busujju in Central Uganda.
With this coffee background, I joined Wamala Growers Coop Union as an Accountant and later Nama Coffee Works in 1974 and 1985 respectively.
I was instigated to start a coffe processing plant in 1986 with my dear wife Rose Nakayenga Kato. Ten years later, President Museveni commissioned our grading plant.
I usually insisted on quality products from ZICOFE and this is what has kept us in the coffee business this long. This was highly witnessed when ZICOFE was awarded two GOLD medal awards in 2001, i.e. the WQC International Star Award in the Gold Category Paris 2001 and the Golden Africa Award (New Millenium Award).
I am greatly honoured that we at ZICOFE were selected for the above awards.
In June 2003, I and Rose decided to add value to the product by producing roasted beans, roasted and ground coffee for the Ugandan market. ZICOFE processes and roasts Arabica coffee grown organically on the slopes of Mt. Elgon and is believed to have the best aroma in the world.
I am happy to inform you that not only is Zigoti Coffee available in the central, eastern and western parts of Uganda, it is also available internationally in China, Malaysia, Japan, South Africa and the United States of America. |

| History |
Mr. Enock Kisuule Kato founded Zigoti Coffee Works Ltd (ZICOFE) together with Mrs. Rose Kato 19 years ago.
From its early days, ZICOFE has been a name to reckon with in the industry of coffee production, processing and export.
The company was one of the first indigenous firms to build its own primary processing plant which was able to sell Fair Average Quantity (FAQ) coffee locally, and soon afterwards internationally.
Over the years, the company has embraced change for its own betterment and improvement of rural livelihoods through providing employment opportunities and, market to small scale coffee producers around the country.
In order to keep abreast with the latest trends in the industry, the company has branched out to the more refined levels of coffee roasting which is a value-addition strategy. |
